Last year Ryan's uncle asked us if we wanted to do the Ragnar in the summer of 2012. We were living in Minnesota and weren't sure if we'd make it. BUT, then we moved on back to Utah, we were able to train, and recruited a few of my family members and had a blast! Van 1 consisted of me, Ryan, my sister Jen, her friend Katy, my brother David, my brother-in-law Ryan, and my sister Melissa was our driver. Van 2 was Ryan's Uncle Dave, his son Ben and his wife Marti, then Uncle Dave's son-in-law Ben, Ryan's Aunt Marianne, and her daughter Natalie.
Between the 12 of us, we ran 197 miles from Logan to Park City. It was such a beautiful landscape, great weather - well a bit hot but had some breeze. Really, we couldn't of had a better experience.
This was at Exchange 6, when our van began our first legs. After van 1 it was Jen, Me, David, Ryan J., Katy, and Ryan G.
This picture makes me so happy. Our cute little Van 2.
Mostly everyone (except Jen and Ben are exchanging, and Uncle Dave was getting our shirts).
Our wonderful Team Mom/driver/care taker/sanity
We each ran 3 different legs. I did 3.4 miles at 12:30 pm, 7.0 miles at 8:45 pm, 5.5 miles at 7:00 am. It's crazy, but so much fun. This was after my first leg.
The Farnsworth Clan (missing brother Ryan)
We were able to get a few Zzzz's between legs. We actually were very grateful for Uncle Dave's experience because he got a hotel room in Heber so Van 1 took a turn sleeping for a few hours, then we went there, and then Van 1 actually went back and got a little more sleep after they finished all 3 of their legs. We were grateful for our 2 hours of undisturbed sleep :)
Before our 2nd legs we hung out and played some Farkle, laughed, ate, and drank.
I'm about to go out for my night run, reflective vest, tail light, and lamp and all. It was such a beautiful run at dusk, down the mountain into a little town called Henefer.
Ryan was grateful for our free pack of Squeaky Cheeks.
This was the top of the "Ragnar Hill" which Ryan dominated. He placed 288th out of 785 people that ran the 4 miles straight up hill. I think that's pretty amazing! Good job honey! I seriously was so proud of him, he was a power horse up that hill.
SO grateful to be done on our way to the finish.
We waited at the finish line expecting Ryan Grow's arrival any minute. And we waited, and waited. So then we started to get worried, was he hurt? Was he lost? And about 20 minutes after we expected him he came in and had taken about a 2 mile detour, the trail had led him astray! But it's ok, we were happy to finish and come in 112th place out of 800 teams in the mixed category. Everyone ran so fast, we were almost 2 hours a head of pace of what we expected, it was awesome! The whole team at the finish with our medals! Then we celebrated with a little family pool party at the Jacksons. The girls all had fun. We were so grateful for the grandparents who were able to watch our sweet babies! Our first night away from Livy, and she was just fine!
