Meeting Penny
Before we even knew this sweet baby was a baby girl we were pretty set on the name Penny. We wanted something a little old fashioned like Olivia. We also wanted a name that people would hear, and know, but wasn't that common. Penny fit the criteria for all, and we fell in love with the name Penny Jackson. we had a really hard time coming up with a middle name, since Jean pretty much covered all of the grandma's and great-grandma's. So we thought about Ryan or Ryanne, in case we never had any boys we could still name a child after her dad. So we decided on the middle name Ann. Penny Ann Jackson, our new sweet baby.
She was perfect from the first breath she took. Big chubby cheeks, pretty red lips, dark hair, and no funny cone-shaped head.
Ryan was so excited to have another girl. We want a boy, someday, but this daddy loves his little girls. He has gotten really good at his Princess trivia, and knows how to play gently, and how to talk to a drama queen. These girls are so lucky to have such a wonderful daddy.
The first time Livy came to meet baby Penny. I was so nervous for this moment. I had thought about it for months. I knew that if I was holding the baby when Livy walked in that she might have been a little nervous. So Ryan held Penny, and when Livy walked in she was able to come and give me a big hug. Then I told her to go meet baby Penny, who we had been talking about and praying for for months. So she looked at Mimi, and grabbed a little pink bear that they had bought for Penny. Livy grabbed it and ran up to Penny to give it to her.
Livy was instantly protective, and didn't want anyone else to hold Penny but Ryan. She would only let people hold her for a minute and then they had to pass her along. She was a very cute and proud Big Sister.
Livy kept telling Penny to wake up. Then when Penny started to make a little noise, Livy asked what was wrong, and Sue said she might be hungry. So Livy went to get some snacks and wanted to feed her.
She was especially excited to see Penny already with a cute pink bow on.
This is Kimmy our delivery nurse. Funny enough, she was actually the same nurse we had for the majority of Livy's delivery too! She was so awesome.
Our first picture as a 4 person family. I am so blessed to have these two little girls and an amazing husband to help me raise them. I love my little family.

Penny's Birth Story
Penny Ann Jackson was at 3:11 am on Friday, August 16th 2013. She was 6 lbs. 13 oz. and 20 inches long. She came 2 weeks early from her original due date, but she and I were both very ready for her to come. On Wednesday I hadn't felt her move very much, especially since she had always been so active. So I went into the hospital for a non-stress test. Everything was perfect. So I was able to get a last good nights sleep. I went into the doctor the next morning for my 38 week appointment and had my doctor go ahead and strip my membranes.
That afternoon I had started to have some contractions every once and awhile. So I rested as much as I could. That evening we went to my cousins Anna's wedding reception, which coincidentally I went to a wedding reception the night I went into labor with Olivia too!! During the reception I was having more contractions, and by the time we got home they were coming about every 10 minutes. We put Livy to bed, I finished packing a few things in my hospital bag, and then I went to get milkshakes with a few of my girl friends for one last girls' night before the baby came! They all thought I was crazy, since the contractions were now closer to 5 minutes apart, but still not very strong or painful. By the time I got home it was 10 pm. I called my mom and told her to go ahead and come on out to our house and plan on sleeping over because I was going into labor some time that night. I told her she didn't have to hurry too badly because I thought I still had a few hours.
Only one hour later, I called her back and said she needed to come now. The contractions were getting really strong and about 3 minutes apart. Within the 20 minutes it took her to get here I was having a hard time breathing and walking through the contractions. We got the hospital and hooked up to the monitor by midnight. They checked me and I was at 4 cm. So they wanted to wait an hour to see if I'd progressed at all before they admitted me. After about 20 minutes, I was breathing pretty heavily, and having a very hard time with each contraction. So they checked me again and I was already at 5 cm. So they admitted me, got my IV, and the anesthesiologist was there by 1 am. I got my epidural, and was able to lay back and relax for a bit.
My doctor got there at 3 am, and I was at 8 cm, so he broke my water and said to wait for a a little while for me to finish dilating before I began pushing. Ryan who was peacefully resting on the couch sits up and says, "So, wait, is this happening now!?". We had waited so long for Livy to come, that this was all happening so fast we could hardly believe it! Less than 5 minutes later I was having the urge to push with each contraction, so all of the nurses and doctor came back in, go all set, and I was ready to go. I pushed 3 times through the first contraction, took a break, pushed 3 times through the next contraction and they said her head was almost out. So on the third contraction I pushed 3 more times and out she came. Our perfect little Penny girl. She screamed right away, her coloring came pretty quickly, she didn't really have a mis-shaped head at all, and was just as perfect as could be. I couldn't believe how quick my labor was. I couldn't believe how easy my delivery was. I barely even tore, it was such a smooth delivery.
Dr. Ollerton was funny, and light-hearted and made the whole experience so wonderful. He had had 8 emergency c-sections and other complicated deliveries that day and was so extremely grateful for a quick and easy delivery. When he delivered Penny he said, "Find a penny pick it up!". She is our little good-luck charm.
I got to hold Penny immediately, and was so grateful to have her here and in my arms. I got to do skin-to-skin for awhile, and then got to start breastfeeding her soon after that. She was as healthy little baby, and I was so grateful to have this time with her, where we weren't rushed, but could just sit there and be happy to finally be together. Ryan was such a huge support. I was so grateful to have him there right by my side. I feel so blessed and so lucky to have such a wonderful pregnancy, labor and delivery. I am so excited for this new little piece of heaven in our home and our family. She is just the sweetest little baby and I am so lucky to be her mother. We love you baby Penny!

I love to see the temple
I have been wanting to take some pictures of Livy in this sweet and innocent phase of life at the temple. I want the temple to always be something that she looks forward to, and is something beautiful to her. I can't wait to put some of these cute prints in her room. How I love this sweet girl. I wish she would stay this sweet forever.
SOLD - In Less than 24 Hours
We listed our house Tuesday afternoon. Two hours later, Rob, my uncle and Realtor said we had someone that wanted to come Wednesday to look at it. Also on Tuesday afternoon Ryan left to Boston for work. So I cleaned and organized and got our house in top shape for the showing Wednesday afternoon. Livy, Sarge and I all went out to the park by the temple with our friends Jess and Oliver. We had a picnic while we were waiting for the people looking at our house. We came home, and not even two hours later I got an email saying we got our very first offer on the house.
We listed it for $199,900. The offer was for $200,500 and we paid the closing costs. We counted with $200, 500 and they paid closing costs. So they increased the offer to $204,500 and we paid closing. It was crazy! We basically got what we wanted with the very first offer! Ryan was traveling, going to dinner and the Red Sox game all while this was happening. But we were able to get the papers signed and be under contract. Since I am having my baby some time this month, they still want to close the end of August, but thankfully they're letting us rent for the month of September so we have some time to adjust. We will then move in with my parents for about 3 months until our house is complete in January.
Holy moly. What a summer. What a blessing. But what madness. Building a house, selling a house, having a baby and moving twice, all within 6 months.
I have to admit, when we got the offer, I sat here on my couch and just cried. It was exciting, I should be ecstatic that we were able to get what we wanted that quickly. But I was so overwhelmed with the reality of having to move with a newborn. Overwhelmed with the idea of leaving this cute town home for the second time, and leaving our friends again for the second time. It was all so much, and so fast. I barely had time to digest that fact that we had listed our home let alone sell it to someone.
Then I went to my 36 week appointment. And the doctor said I was already almost at 2 cm and 70% effaced. I guess the stress of cleaning your house, listing it and selling it could put you in to labor!! I have less than 3 weeks until my induction date, but with the contractions I've been having I doubt I'll make it that long. But then again, I don't want to get my hopes up that she will come early. We'll take her whenever we can get her. We are so excited for this new phase of our life, being a 4 person family, and a new home. We just need to survive these next crazy 5 months!
