Frustrating, yes, but it could be worse

Well I am a sad little girl tonight. The past week or so my knee has really been bothering me, especially when I run more than 3 miles, going down the stairs, and doing lunges. So I finally went and talked to Ry's dad and after I was telling him where and when my knee hurt he had a grin on his face and said, "well I have good but bad news, you won't need surgery or anything, but you have 'runner's knee', a problem with the lateral band"... how frustrating is that?

I can't run, I can't bike, I can't do the olyptical, I can't do an aerobics class, no kick boxing, no nothing. The only kind of cardio I can do is jump roping. Who jump ropes? I'm sad, but that's ok, I'm going to go buy a jump rope tomorrow and become an expert jump roper over the next few months and I will also be doing a lot of icing, stretching and resting.

I even put together a intramural soccer team for this fall with a bunch of girls from high school plus a few other friends, and guess who can't even play anymore? Ya, that's frustrating. Oh well, I should be able to play by the tournament. Anyway, at least I don't have to have any kind of surgery and it's not all that serious, well it could be, but at least I found out what it was early enough so I don't make it even worse.

But life is still good, school is going great, work is great, I love my husband so much, Sargie always makes me laugh, I get lots of quality time with Jen, and my fam is always there to talk to. I love them all so much!

School, Work, and Loving Life!

2 weeks down and 13 more to go in the semester. You would think that I'm looking forward to graduating wouldn't you? Well it's been a nice ride, but we are more than ready for our next train.
Well Ry started his new job this week at the credit union by the stadium (p.s. Go Cougs!), so if any of you are members of that branch, go visit and say hello! Ry's such a good, hard worker, they're so lucky to have him. He's excited to be part of "society" again, he loved his 2 years at the MTC, but it was time for a change. He's also looking forward to not have to wear a white shirt and tie everyday, now he can wear a blue shirt and tie! That's a big deal. We also were able to have dinner tonight with Ry's potential boss for our post-graduation options. It was a such a pleasant dinner, they were such kind people.

I will soon end my 3 years at the Bookstore, well "soon" as in 3 months. I gave my "notice" and I'm currently looking for any kind of internship for winter semester. We'll see what happens. I also talked with a man in the Marriott School the other day that is going to be my best friend the next 11 months. He is the director of career services and he basically told me that he's going to help me find a job when I graduate and line my up with some awesome interviews with some major corporations. Hurray! There is so much to look forward to. I love life. We are so blessed and are so excited for what we have to come.

Food, Football, and Friends

We made it through the first week of school! It seemed like such a long week; we had to spend hundreds of dollars on text books, every class period was spent going over the syllabus, we are trying to get used to our new schedules, and we're trying to find the motivation to study again. That is why we absolutely LOVE our weekends! We ate yummy Cafe Rio on Friday night and then chilled with Dave and Crissi and played a little Yahtzee, a Farnsworth favorite pasttime.
On Saturday, the day we had been waiting for, we had a sweet BYU Football BBQ. Brittany and I weren't shy in preparing the patties, they were thick and juicy. The boys manned the grill and did a fabulous job cooking the beastly burgers and also grilled some fresh corn.
Look at that gourmet buger...

What's a football party without some bean dip? Brittany was kind enough to not deprive us of a wonderful dip. Erin provided a quenching raspberry sherbet lemonade. Basically, we feasted. It was fabulous.

Jen also made an appearance with some friends, and we cheered the Cougs on to the very stressful end. Bad call or not with the whole celebration thing...WE WON! Good game Scott! Bring it on UCLA.

Let's Eat!

So since it was Labor Day weekend, I've had a few people ask me what I did this weekend. What I say is, "well, we basically ate". It's true, but it was fabulous. We were lucky enough to go up to Park City with Ry's parents and his brother Josh. We stayed at The Lodges of Deer Valley, it was so nice. We came back into town because I had to work, and we also caught the first half of the BYU game in the stiffling heat.

Jen randomly walked by, and ended up taking our seats at the half...

That night in Park City we ate at an amazing Italian restaurant on Main Street called Cisero's. If you want to have the perfect Italian experience, this is definiately the place to go. The food was simply wonderful!

This sign was in the waiting area, it made me laugh so hard. Just imagine if it were true...

The rain pounded on the roof all night long, and continued all through Sunday. The power went out in the middle of one of the many MASH episodes we watched; so we took a cozy nap during the thunder storm, played some Scrabble and Rumikub, then took a nice drive around town.

We actually turned on the fireplace, at the end of August, who would've thought? We ate a scrumpcious chicken dinner and woke up Monday morning to eggs, hashbrowns, waffles and peaches. We hit the outlets before the crowds and were done just in time for lunch at RedRock. Now if you're looking for some top quality American food, they'll hook you up.

Like I said, our weekend basically revolved around food, but we loved it. Now here we are, watching Monday night football (can you believe UCLA pulled through?), anticipating the First Day of School!

A week of nothing

I love it, I sleep in until 9:00 (the latest I've slept in ever since I've been married I think, Ry always wakes up before me), go to the gym, slowly get ready and find something to fill my afternoon until work. After work we eat dinner and watch a RedBox movie. Except one morning we came back from the gym and our lovely puppy had completely destroyed one of the rented DVD's, I mean it was completely mutilated. It was one of those parent training moments...you can't just hit your kid and lock them in a room for a day. Oh well, what can you do? What's been done has been done. I guess we'll just have to wait out the 25 days and be charged $25 plus tax...

On Tuesday my freshman roommate Alena Martinelli (now Alena Morgan) was married and we were able to attend their wedding luncheon. She looked so beautiful and so extremely happy. I am so excited for her and her new life!

Out of my 4 other freshman roommates only 2 made it, the lovely Stephanie and the hilarious Janie. It was fun to see them and catch up with them again.

Well I also want to wish my amazing mother-in-law and my favorite older sister a happy-belated birthday! I love you so much!

(P.S. We can't wait for Saturday, GO COUGS!!!!)

We did it!

We had an earlier morning, up around 4:45 AM and on our way to Mapleton where we took a bus up Hobble Creek Canyon to endure the hour of cold weather before the sun came up. Promptly at 7:30 the gun went off, the iPod began, and our 13.1 mile trek was under way. It was such a beautiful run through the mountains and trees on a perfect summer morning.

Ry stayed with me for the first 2 miles and then I let him and his long strides go ahead. We both had such a good experience, we really enjoyed ourselves. It was our first 1/2 marathon and it has been nice to have something to work towards. It's also a plus to accomplish a goal too. All the girls got a flower after the race and we all got awesome "finisher" shirts.

We were both happy with our times, Ry was aiming to get under 2 hours and he did it by finishing in 1:49. I had a goal to never walk, and basically just finish; and I did both, I never walked and I finished! I'm happy with my time too, 2:02. Now that we've done it once, we have time to try and beat for next time!

This is after we got home, and yes, I sported the tie-dye...

So...no one was there to take our picture when we got home...so this is me trying to reset the timer...

Ya...

Go us!

Me and my Green Thumb

So coming back from Lake Powell and right back at real life, I suddenly realized that I didn't have any studying to do, and I could do whatever I wanted to do. So I have spent many hours watching and enjoying the Olympics. Go Shawn!

Then Ry left on Tuesday morning to go to Fresno California to learn the ropes of medical sales from one of their best (it was the longest we've been apart, and I missed him like CRAZY! But, Sargie kept me company). So I decided I was going to get some things done. I attacked a patch of weeds that has been growing out of control in front of our house.

I got rid of all the nasty weeds...

Then I bought some little shrubs (quite little shrubs) and chrysanthemum's that will grow and will be beautiful! (I know they're not anything special just yet, but they will be!)

I feel so domestic. Now I need to attack the backyard, which is a much bigger project. By the time all of that was done, going to work at the Bookstore during Education Week...was the last thing I wanted to do. There are few things worse than Women's Conference and Education Week, I mean, well, it's just something you have to see and experience for yourself.
